James Joyce (1882-1941). oyce is considered the greatest exponent of Anglo-Saxon modernism and one of the most influential authors of the 20th century. His writing stands out for presenting a significant innovative and contemporary style which led him to experiment with new literary forms and techniques.
Why did we choose it?
Ulysses is one of the most influential works of universal literature. A modern epic that narrates how a day passes for his protagonist in Dublin. One of the differentiating traits of the work is that he uses a different style for each chapter. The most predominant is the interior monologue, characterised by expressing thoughts just as we do in real life: freely and without inhibitions. It’s what’s also known as a “stream of consciousness”.
